How wonderful it was to gather for 2 days of conversation and networking at our ACGR National Meeting in Sydney. We had over 100 colleagues in attendance and the forward-thinking tone of the meeting was invigorating as we engaged with Professor Mary O’Kane and Professor Barney Glover to discuss the promising future of Graduate Research in Australia.
This update has a strong focus on the Australian Universities Accord providing the ACGR response and access to the over 300 responses to the Australian Universities Accord Panel Discussion Paper.
With the next opportunity to provide feedback on the Accord process coming up in June this will be at the forefront of discussions in the coming months.
The fast-evolving machine learning technologies were a hot button topic at our meeting and will undoubtedly be an ongoing source of fascination and at times frustration as we navigate the impact of these technologies on all aspects of work undertaken in graduate research. To follow-up these discussions at the April meeting we have included in this update the UNESCO Quick start guide on ChatGTP and Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education.
As always we are keen to ensure our activities reflect the issues and topics you are grappling with in your institutions thus we encourage you all to reach out and tell us what is top of your minds and the conversations you would like to be having with colleagues so we can ensure we are making those opportunities available to you.
Best regards
