Professor Imelda Whelehan

Professor Imelda Whelehan is Dean of the Graduate Research School at the University of Western Australia (2019-). She has been a member of the ACGR executive committee since 2018 and was President in 2022 and 2023. She has been Dean of Higher Degrees by Research at the Australian National University (2016-19) and Research Professor and Pro Vice-Chancellor Research Training at the University of Tasmania (2011-2016). A feminist literature and film scholar, Professor Whelehan worked in the UK for much of her career and was Faculty Head of Research and Research Training at De Montfort University, Leicester until 2010. She has published widely in the fields of feminism, popular culture and screen adaptation and is co-editor of the Oxford journal Adaptation. She is currently writing a monograph on post-war Hollywood adaptations, 1946-1959.
