Dear Colleagues,
Our ACGR update for March comes to you as we well and truly settle into 2023. A year that has already brought a breadth of discussion around what lies on the horizon for our sector, including higher degree research. To this end, this month we will be hosting a webinar on March 22nd to discuss the recently released Australian Universities Accord Discussion paper as we are keen to engage with your thoughts and ideas. We are also looking forward to seeing you all in person in April at our first meeting for 2023. This will be an opportunity to advance these discussions and flesh out some of the opportunities and challenges facing us as we move past the ‘Covid years’.
Registrations for our first face-to-face meeting of 2023 are now open. ACGR National Meeting will take place in Sydney on April 27th and 28th at Western Sydney University, Parramatta. A maximum of three registrations are available for each Australian full member university and two delegates from associate and affiliate (international) member institutions.
We also highlight that nominations for the ACGR Awards for Excellence are closing soon (March 20). The awards recognise excellence in higher degree supervision (HDR) supervision, leadership, industry engagement, and programs and support. The awards are an opportunity to publicly acknowledge and showcase the level of excellence in graduate research practice undertaken across the sector. We look forward to receiving your nominations.
We encourage you to register for both the Australian Universities Accord webinar and our April meeting to share your thoughts, engage in conversation and connect with colleagues.
Best regards
Imelda Whelehan, ACGR President
