It’s two short weeks until we gather in Adelaide for the ACGR National Meeting. We are excited to welcome you to Adelaide to reflect on the future trajectory of graduate research in the wake of the release of the Australian Universities Accord Final Report. Our keynote panellists Professor Marnie Hughes-Warrington and Professor Andrew Norton will set the scene, offering their reflections and insights into what lies ahead for the graduate research community and the higher education sector more broadly. We are also delighted to be announcing the winners of the 2024 ACGR Awards for Excellence at the National Meeting dinner on the evening of 15 April. We thank you all for submitting your high-calibre nominations.
In this month’s update, as always, we bring you details of the upcoming ACGR webinars. You can register now for our May webinar delivered by Associate Professor Tania Crotti—the recipient of the 2023 ACGR Award for Excellence in Graduate Research leadership—who will discuss the successes and insights drawn from the HDR Supervision Community of Practice, comprising academic, research and professional staff raising the quality of supervision at the University of Adelaide. We also touch on the UKCGE Equity in Doctoral Education project and the release of the first project report surveying current HDR admissions practices across the UK highlighting barriers to inclusive admissions. This report serves as a timely read as we focus on a discussion on selecting HDR candidates at the ACGR National Meeting.
We look forward to engaging with you in person soon and wish you all safe travels as you make your way to Adelaide.
Best regards
Clive Baldock, ACGR President
