Dear colleagues,
With the National Member Meeting just around the corner we are very much looking forward to welcoming you to Hobart and the University of Tasmania in a few short weeks. You can now access the full program and with registrations closing shortly we encourage you to register now if you haven’t already. Conversations will focus on a range of topics including creating capacity for training Indigenous graduate researchers, current challenges within the tertiary sector and implications for graduate research, and sustainability in research education among others. Not to forget that we are excited to celebrate the ACGR Awards for Excellence in Graduate Research winners at the meeting dinner.
Of particular note in this month’s member update is the Understanding HDR candidate-supervisor relationship challenges (Phase 2) Final Report. Undertaken by the Australian Human Rights Institute and the Gendered Violence Research Network (GVRN) at UNSW Sydney, in collaboration with 10 participating universities and the Australian Council of Graduate Research, the report outlines the findings of a study based on survey data collected from 1,207 candidates and 641 supervisors, along with 60 interviews. The findings of the study will inform future ACGR initiatives supporting best practice in HDR supervision.
We look forward to welcoming you to Hobart to share your thoughts, engage in conversation and connect with colleagues. See you soon!
Best regards,
Louise Sharpe, ACGR President
Tracy Sullivan, Executive Director
